GET TO KNOW JOANNA
THE FULL STORY
Growing up I spent the majority of my time nurturing animals and looking forward to the day that I would someday become a wife and mother. I grew up in a Christian home and my love for Jesus is a big part of who I am. I have 2 older brothers and 1 younger sister. We grew up in an entrepreneurial family and I spent much of my young life as the office manager for our family business.
Fast forward to today and I have been happily married to my husband Joshua for the past 10 years. We live on a beautiful piece of property in Eastern Washington just north of Spokane. Our dream is to transform our property into a thriving homestead someday.

I am a stay at home mom to our three little boys; John, James and Jethro. We are a homeschooling family and can be frequently found outside exploring nature, creating forts and being excessively messy, as that is what little boys like to do.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my dog, Ellie. I'm afraid she may be the closest thing I will ever have to a daughter, so naturally I might spoil her a little bit.

In addition to birth, my passions include coffee, chickens, ducks and cooking! I also enjoy spending time with my loved ones and will never turn down the opportunity for a good bonfire!
I first fell in love with birth when I had my son John in 2016. At that time I was completely uneducated on the process of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. I had spent the majority of my young life “winging it”, and that was my approach to childbirth as well (which is not what I recommend, by the way!).

Fast forward to the end of my pregnancy and through a remarkable chain of events, my friend Sara came alongside me as my doula. At that time, I had no concept of what a doula actually was and no idea the amount of value she would bring to my birth experience. From comfort techniques, education and teaching me how to advocate for myself, after nearly 40 hours of labor Sara helped me create a birth experience that will forever be etched in my mind as one of the most empowering moments of my life. Thus began my love for birth and the work that we do as birth doulas.

As a birth doula, my goal is to help empower every family that I work with to create a positive birth experience unique to their family. From your birth preferences, cultural traditions and individual family dynamics, I strive to help you create a meaningful experience that will be cherished for the rest of your life.
